The Virtual Global Professional Experience (vGPE) is a 6-7 week internship taking place during the summer between May 31-July 16, 2021. In this program, students will be conducting remote work from the comfort of their homes with an international company or organization. Positions vary by location, but may include work in social media, ecology advocacy, creative writing, business, analytics, data science, law, politics, and other areas. Students will simultaneously be enrolled in a 1-credit course during the internship. The specific start and end date of the position will vary by company, but will generally range from May 31-July 16. As this is a virtual placement, the only cost associated with the program is the fee for the one-credit course which is $1,225.

This 6-7 week program includes two main components:
  • A one-credit course that offers an exploration of historic, social, and economic dimensions related to each of the program’s regions, in addition to providing a forum to reflect upon new international perspectives, inter-cultural knowledge, collaborative skills, integrative competencies, and career discernment.

  • A six-seven week placement within a business or organization that will provide students with professional experiences related to their academic and professional interests. Host businesses and organizations include media, startups, technology, healthcare, and finance, among other sectors. Each placement expects students to work 20-30 hours per week.
Eligibility
Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are welcome to apply. International students holding an F-1 visa who plan to remain in the United States during this program must apply to CPT in order to participate in the program. If you are an international student and need help in this process, please contact issa@nd.edu.

Application Information
To apply, click the Apply Now button. A CV and Statement of Purpose are required at the time of the application to facilitate matching students to organizations. In this program, NDI will match you with a company based on your CV, skills, and interests. In your application, be as precise as possible. If you would like to point out a specific company you'd like to work for, you can mention them in your application. However, please note that we cannot guarantee a spot in your company of choice, as we will be matching based on CV, skills, interests, and language requirements. You will know which company you will be matched with at the time of acceptance, before your "commitment date".
