Originally from southern California, Younger earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Franciscan University of Steubenville (FUS), OH. During his undergraduate years, Younger completed overseas study in both Austria and Mexico and completed a service trip at an orphanage in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Immediately following graduation, Younger worked in Austria for a study abroad program administered by FUS for several years. While in Austria, Younger also taught conversational English classes for non-native speakers. Upon returning to the United States, Younger completed a Master’s Degree in Higher Education at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. During this time Younger also completed coursework in Italy on issues pertaining to the Bologna Process and International Education. David Younger has travelled extensively in Europe and into Central America and the Middle East.
A regional leader within NAFSA: Association of International Educators, David Younger provides advice and guidance regarding Italian immigration issues pertaining to overseas study and American faculty issues for American universities. Proficient in Spanish, German, and Italian, Younger has worked in International Education for over 10 years. Younger’s professional and research interests include best practices in foreign language acquisition while abroad and cultural immersion.
As Associate Director for Exchange in Notre Dame International (NDI), Younger helps negotiate international exchange agreements, advises on study abroad programs in Germany, Italy, and Russia, and assists with immigration and academic advising all incoming undergraduate exchange students.
